With spring in full swing, Galapagos Music Festival, which will take place July 28-30 on the Big Island of Lake Zaragoza, has already announced that it will invite music lovers to dive into the sounds of experimental synthesizers, synth pop and kraut rock with an exclusive performance by the legendary Röyksopp DJ Set, and today they share know what else the festival program is filled with!
In it, the future star of Slovenia, who has already won important awards for emerging talents – July Jones – will take the stage for the first time and introduce herself to the Lithuanian audience! July Jones doesn’t just have a distinctive look or a unique attitude, but most importantly her music and unfiltered lyrics about relationships, mental health or queer themes.
“I’m queer and my partner is transgender, so it’s especially important for me to talk about being LGBTQ. I want my fans to know that not every song has to be about sex or alcohol, although it’s great to sing about that sometimes! First and foremost, I am a writer and producer, and I think my main strength is creating art,” says July Jones.
We saw July Jones at this year’s Eurosonic Noorderslag festival, where she also won the Music Moves Europe Awards. This summer, the festival, which returns home to where it started – on the Great Island of Lake Zaras, which is located in an impressive corner of nature, will feature the band that has appeared on the stage the most – “G&G Sindicatas”! As every year, on the big stage of the festival, with new energy and the works of the new album “Duona oddačininė / Skeletai spintoje” and the most memorable hits of the group, we will chant our truths, raising our fists together!
At this year’s festival, Galapagos will be performed by Evgenya Redko, who is returning here. Although the artist’s career lasts just over three years, she confidently collects millions of views on music listening platforms, and talk about her authentic sound and specific aesthetic reaches an ever-wider audience. Today, Evgenya Redko is one of the most outstanding Lithuanian solo artists, whose performance will be seen on the island of Lake Zarasas!
The band “Sisters On Wire”, who played at the festival for the first time last year, will also return to it this year! This quartet from Vilnius released their first Lithuanian song “Taip jau gavosi” in 2020, which was followed by the song “Mēnyna Mēlyna”, which gained even more interest, and today they announce not only that they will perform at the festival, but also organize their first solo concert in Žalgiris in the arena!
Galapagos Festival announces today that it will be visited for the first time by the band that creates minimalistic and mildly psychedelic music – “Kamanius šilelis”. Having gathered a considerable number of listeners throughout Lithuania over the past 12 years, the duo of director Kamilė Gudmonaitė and actor Mantas Zemleckos use traditional instruments from near and far lands in their work, and the shades of barely visible folklore are complemented by electronics in their music. The band’s music fascinates a very motley audience, which will definitely meet them at the Galapagos festival.
Even more musical names of the festival program, who will sound on more than one music stage on the Great Island of Lake Zaras, are coming very soon!
